The Perch Restaurant – Lancing
52m long Solar Canopy providing more than 12,500KW hours per year to the Shoreside Restaurant below
Newframe installed the first Solar Canopy of its kind to the rear of The Perch Restaurant and B&B in Lancing. The canopies were comprised of 3 separate sections totalling 52metres in length. We constructed a steel portal structure galvanised and finished to 100-micron marine grade powder coat finish and secured 39 aluminium framed and bonded 370w Solar PV glass panels with 20% transparency engineered to prevent corrosion. We also undertook the DC connections and wiring through the entire roof system ready for the electricians to connect up to the Mains board.
The system is designed to produce a 14.4kWpeak giving a daily power performance of 34.2kW hours and 12,500kW hours annually

“At The Perch Lancing we’ve felt the impact of rising energy costs—our electricity bill has quadrupled in the last two years. Being on the South Coast, installing solar panels was a no-brainer for us. When we discovered Newframe’s Solar Glass Canopy, it really stood out—not just for its smart technology but also because it looks great. It’s proof that renewable energy can be both functional and visually striking.
We were assured by Newframe that their system had been specifically designed for harsh environments and the week after installation, a big storm rolled through, and it didn’t move a millimetre. Our customers have been really positive about it. They love that it’s an environmentally friendly choice that doesn’t look like an afterthought. With rising energy costs it will pay for itself within a decade or even faster which means savings of tens of thousands of pounds.
It’s a brilliant product, and honestly, we’re really pleased with it.”
