Roof Mounted Solar Panels

The Facts

Solar panels have been around for years but many customers are worried about what to choose. Some panels are more powerful than others and the cheaper the system, the less powerful they are. Some companies will sell only the cheapest which may not give you what you need or expect if your daily consumption exceeds their performance or if your roof isn’t big enough.

Generally, roof panels on the market today generate between 250W and 350w of energy per panel. However, Newframe offer Tong Wei Solar’s roof mounted solar panel option and ours generate 420Watts per square metre.. This means that our solar panels are among the most powerful on the UK market today. They utilise the highest efficiency revolutionary shingled solar panel technology which gives you improved power conduction and output that is best in class.  We are happy to discuss both solar glazing and solar panels solutions with you and explain the benefits of both

Polysolar offers a 25-30 year performance warranty on all its Solar products, all of which are MCS certified and recyclable . Polysolar’s unique range of high performance, innovative Solar panels can be used for applications almost anywhere on your home or in your garden, generating a lifetime of clean renewable energy

Polysolar produce the widest range of ‘Building Integrated Photo Voltaics’ under the sun for both consumers and commercial customers alike

Considerations:

  1. Your budget
  2. Your current electricity consumption
  3. Your roof space

Most customers don’t know Point 2 or 3 so first, you need to look at your electricity bill which will tell you how many kilowatts of power you are using on a daily basis (A kilowatt is 1000 watts). As a guide.

A small home will consume about 4 kilowatts per day on average over a year

A medium home will consume about 8 kilowatts per day

A large home will consume 10-12kilowatts or more per day

Why Choose Newframe’s Solar Roof Panels?

Typical roof mounted panel systems contain around 15 panels will cover 25m2 of roof space and will generate around 4.2Kilowatt at their ‘peak’ which is shown as 4.2Kwp. In other words over an average daytime and allowing for cloud cover, roof position and facing direction, shading from nearby trees etc, you could generate no more than half of your daily usage. But without a battery, at night when you are at home, you will still need to buy in power from the Grid. Most power in the home is consumed between 6pm and 10pm. If you are out all day, you won’t use the power generated so it makes sense to store it for when you are there.

Your property may not be able to accommodate the weight of the panels – If your property is old or if you have clay tiles, you should not consider them.

Polysolar’s Solar Panels are a great alternative as their highly efficient 420W panels can generate easily 70% of your power needs over the year. Whatever your preference or need, our Solar Glazing and Panels offer a highly cost effective solution to cheaper power generation going forward. Each has its own benefits and we can advise you on which option would work best for your home and your pocket.

The bonus for both is that right now there is no VAT to be paid on solar glazing or panels – which is effectively a 20% saving.

Any other home improvement like a conservatory or new awning would have VAT added, so this is one more reason to consider Polysolar’s solar glazing from Newframe.

Do I need planning permission to install a solar PV system?

Solar PV systems are considered ‘permitted developments’ and often don’t require planning permission. However, exceptions apply and it’s best to check with your local planning office for guidance. If you live in a listed building, conservation area or national park, additional restrictions may apply.

If you’re planning to install a solar PV system in your home, you may have to register it with your Distribution Network Operator (DNO). The DNO is the company responsible for bringing electricity to your home. We will advise you on this.
