Forward-thinking Harrow Council and Polysolar have announced their collaboration at the Show on a UK first for the integration of transparent solar glass technology on a social housing retrofit. This AI enabled concept follows Harrow’s successful GLA grant-funded bid for fabric-first measures to electric-powered homes. Installed by Newframe, these sheltered outdoor spaces that also power the home, offer a combination of well-being and environmental improvements that are a critical and unique factor of the concept’s approval. Zero-concrete ground screw foundations that produce 60% less CO2 and are recyclable and reusable combine with panels that are bi-facial and 30% more productive as well as having a minimum lifespan of 30 years. The canopy at the show will be taken down on Sunday night to be reinstated at the lucky tenant’s property and this test canopy will be the first of up to 30 this financial year.
